Artist Lick: Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders
July 31st, 2010Tosin Abasi of Animal As Leaders shows us one of his favorite licks – a fretboard-spanning flurry of arpeggiated fury. Tosin uses all strings but his lowest for this lick, meaning that it can be played on a seven-string in standard tuning as shown in the tab.
“This is just an F#minor7 arpeggio, but I’m tapping the same arpeggio a 5th above – so you kind of have this cascading triplet sort of feel.”
Guthrie Govan book perhaps, but as a guy with too many hilariously album-covered selections from the shrapnel catalogue, that right there is trademark Greg Howe if I ever saw it. Check kick it all over.
