Yes they are – Axe-Fx!
do you know for sure that they’re getting their tones from the pedals? they could be getting the tube distortion from the amps and just using the processors for the effects. i know thats what i do at least
At the time of this feature they were running their amps dry and getting all distortion from the Boss units. These days they use Axe-Fx. I’m pretty sure that Mikael uses the Axe-Fx alone and Fredrik uses it just for effects and Blackstar amps for the basic clean and dirty sounds.
