Tom Williams is a professional musician based in the south east of England. He is a versatile player having played within many genres and settings including jazz, funk, rock, soul, fusion and classical and has performed in venues such as Alexandra Palace and for companies such as Sony UK among others. He regularly performs across the South East in various function bands, duos jazz orchestras, rock and jazz projects, theatre productions and also as a solo performer. He also holds a masters degree in music from the University of Surrey where he is currently working towards a PhD. Academically, Tom's research intrests include: Improvisational strategy, analysis methodologies, the works of Michael Brecker, development of electric gutiar styles, jazz in film music, history & development of jazz styles, traditional world musics from Japan, India and North West Africa.
